Hi everyone,

Since my Swedish isn’t good enough to express myself properly, I’m writing this in English – apologies in advance!

I’m a guy in my late 20s who recently moved to Sweden. I used to live in the UK, and I’ve been here for less than a year. After I found a stable job, I decided to buy a car. Long story short, I bought a car a few days ago without knowing much about cars at all.

I didn’t grow up with a dad and unfortunately don’t have anyone around me who can teach me about cars. I got my driver’s license over 10 years ago, but I haven’t driven regularly since then—just occasionally rented cars for trips.

Here’s the car I bought:
Volkswagen Golf GT 1.5 TSI ACT PF 110 kW / 150 hk, 7-speed DSG (2019, 7.5th generation)
I have a lot of questions and honestly don’t even know where to start. The car came with a 3-year warranty from the seller (I paid extra for it). However, I was told that the timing belt hasn’t been changed yet, and the mileage is about 120,000 km. I’m a bit worried about whether it needs to be changed soon. I was also told that the car was serviced a few months ago, so maybe it’s still okay?

Because I really don’t know much about cars, I’m thinking about taking it to an official VW workshop to get it checked. I live in Uppsala and found something called “Volkswagen Originalservice 4+” on VW’s official website. Is this the right thing to book?

The cost seems to be between 8,000–9,000 SEK depending on the workshop. That’s a lot of money for me at the moment, but I also want to make sure the car is safe and in good shape. Do you think it’s worth doing?

Also, I would really appreciate any advice you have—about the car, maintenance, or even just everyday things like which petrol stations are best to use in Sweden. I’ve tried searching online, but it's hard to find answers specific to Sweden in English. Using Google Translate helps, but sometimes I don’t even know what terms to search for.

Thanks a lot for reading and helping out!

Unless the car is being used in a country with high level of dust there is no interval change for the cambelt..
